Project Information

Initially a straight prior notification to convert from B1 office to C3 dwelling, it was agreed that the building looked squat in its surroundings. Dot architecture designed three additional storeys, to increase the viability of the site by almost 100% but also enabled a comprehensive refurbishment of a building that is exciting, but in need of some TLC. Also, part of the development was for the interior design team to look and design the lobby and communal spaces.

Manor Farm, Fovant

Project Information

A previous client, their barns had become redundant and as such they were looking at alternative options for the site. We put together several feasibilities, but it ended up being a conversion into amazing residential units – taking advantage of the existing buildings, whilst creating exciting large open plan spaces internally. Conservation were heavily involved to ensure that the design was one sympathetic to the main structures.

Midland Hotel, Bournemouth

Project Information

The Midland Hotel was a failing hotel due to its condition and location. We carried out a full survey of the building and managed to create enough flats from the space to enable a viable conversion. A small extension was added to the rear to increase the onsite provision with two small houses. The 80s extension was rendered to create a better relationship to the main building.

River Barn, Throop, Bournemouth

Project Information

The owners of this lovely Listed Barn wanted to have a complimentary extension to house Utility space and enable a more open plan living space internally. Our proposal was to follow the vernacular of local barns and design an addition that was completely black in its form. The use of this material is very much in keeping with the local area, but the form was far more contemporary. It makes for a really exciting juxtaposition of old and new, that also is sympathetic to the main dwelling.
